A change in routine is a holiday. During the holidays, few people have additional free time. However, holidays not only change your routine, but that of your dog as well. Before taking the dog for a holiday there are some advance preparations that have to be done by the owner.
For the safety of small dogs: If you are traveling with a small dog weighing less than 20 pounds, you must think of some problems like if the pet gets loose it may go under dangerous places such as your gas pedal or brakes. So just install a safety seat for the dog. There are various types of seats available and the majority of them strap securely into the car in seconds.
For the safety of medium to large dogs: Vehicle safety for such dogs is mostly overlooked by owners. Your dog should be restrained properly just like you while traveling to guarantee a comfortable and safe trip. So you need to get a safety harness. This can be attached directly to the seatbelt of your car. They permit the dog to sit, stand or lay-down in comfort.
For the safety of nervous dogs: The dog can get anxious and fearful while traveling. A sudden stop or sharp turn can make your dog fly resulting in a serious accident. For such dogs you can buy a carrier or crate. Remember that dogs are den animals they have a feeling of security in enclosed spaces. The good size crate will provide the atmosphere of a den your dog is looking for in stressful times. For an extra dog calmative you can use flower essences or other natural calmatives available in the market. A biscuit named Ultra-Calm® Biscuit can also be given to the dog before you start the journey.
If you are going to a house rental, motel or hotel call and check with the management to see if they welcome pets at the place. Check if you have to pay any extra deposits or fees and ask whether they are refundable or not. Check if the dog is permitted to be in the room unattended, if so ask if the dog is required to be crated. You can even ask for a room on the ground floor if available. This can make evening dog walks easy.
