Healthy Meals To Give Your Dog To keep your dog healthy and fit, you should feed your dog nutritious, balanced and healthy food which includes high quality of vegetables, whole grains herbs and nutritional supplements.

Some people make their own dog food made from ingredients purchased in the grocery store,  health-food stores or give their dog a raw food diet.

You can make dog food at home instead of using commercial formulas.  Homemade dog foods are fresh and do not have substances like artificial coloring, artificial flavors or preservatives.  This could prevent the dog from developing allergies with symptoms of itching.

Poor quality ingredients in commercial dog foods.

Some supplements, certain minerals and vitamins, and oils are rich in omega-3 for a healthy coat and skin. Processed dog food can also cause health hazards.  The nutrients are overcooked.  High heat alters the protein structure in meat.

Commercial dog foods (which have only been available for the past century) contain poor-quality meats, additives, and other ingredients dogs should not ingest.  Some maintain that commercial dog food is not nutritionally sufficient. The formula for the diet made at home should be 25% grain like rice and oatmeal as they are easily digestible, 50% protein and 25% vegetables.
