Selecting the Best Type of Dog Hair Brush

I have two dogs and as you know they need constant brushing. I try all different kinds, but never stick with one that the dogs or I really like. Hence, I hunted for various varieties of brushes that are available and used in grooming of dogs and finally I found a few of them listed below:

Slicker Brush – The main brush that is mostly used while grooming the dog is the universal slicker brush. This brush includes a wire-pin brush that is bent at the ends of the wires. This type of brush is mostly used for breaking up mats or untangling hair. They are available in various styles and colors. The slicker brushes that have heavier wires and are curved are perfect for the dogs with wiry and long hair (such as Old English sheepdog). There are few more brushes in this category that have fine wires and perfect when used on dogs that are small (such as Yorkshire terrier or toy poodles) or the ones that have sensitive skin. Hence, this was useful for me to use for my big dog.  Mark III Slicker Brush (Medium) by Chris Christensen

Hound Glove – This type of brush is easily fitted to your hands and used for shining and polishing the hair of dogs that have shorter coats such as Basset hounds, Boxers and Dobermans.  Terrier Palm Pad-Chris Christensen

Boat-Bristle Brush - This kind of brush helps in removing the hair that is getting loose, they have dark bristles and they look very similar to the regular human hair brush. They also help in removing the oils from the skin of the dog and then evenly distributing the oils all along the shafts of hair.

Rubber Brush - This brush is one of the best brushes when used for removing loose hair or dust on breeds that are short haired. These are used on cats as well and are very commonly used for horses.  The Amazing Zoom Groom Rubber Brush by Kong

Pin Brush - The ends of this brush have thick pins with nibs. They are available in various sizes, styles and shapes. This is helpful in removing the loose hair. They are often used for fluffing the coat in shows.  Chris Christensen T- Brush 16mm

Chamois Cloth - It is not a brush technically, but is used for shining and polishing of coats of the dogs that are short haired. It is generally a piece of soft leather.
